It is the fundamental aim of the school to prepare individuals for employment by providing the quality of training and experiences necessary to develop skills, competences, appropriate work habits and related behaviors necessary for successful existence in the world of work.  Our vocational programs are approved by and planned in accordance with the state comprehensive education system and local manpower requirements.  Accordingly, consistent needs assessments and program revisions are made.  All the Nicholas County Career and Technical Center programs are consistent with the regulations of the state board of education of West Virginia, The United States Department of Health, Education, and Welfare, and The United States Department of Labor.  The facility works cooperatively with all government and private groups interested in occupational training.
    It is our aim to actively seek the support and advice of those workers engaged in the occupation for which instruction is given, as well as support of the educational profession and local citizenry.  To this end we maintain a school improvement council as well as craft committees for each program in the curriculum.
